Roberto Martinez In Line For The Big Job In Spain
Belgium manager Roberto Martinez is the favourite for the big job in Madrid
Belgium manager and former Everton boss Roberto Martinez is in front to become Real Madrid boss next summer. The former Everton manager's stock has been higher after guiding Belgium to third place finish at the world cup 2018 in Russia.
It is understood that Real Madrid's hierarchy has dropped plans to appoint Antonio Cont as their next manager and that leaves a fair chance for Roberto Martinez to reign in domestic and champions league campaign.
The Santiago Bernabeu club's chiefs have not made a formal attempt to sign the 45-year old Belgium manger or approach either his adviser or Belgian FA as he has a contract that runs until after Euro 2020. Although Martinez does not have a release clause on his contract, it would not be wise for the Belgian FA to loose him after loosing his assistant Thierry Henry to Ligue 1 club Monaco.
He has had offers before but not with the caliber of Real Madrid and the offer could be tempting and the Belgium manager would like to exercise his management skills at a prestigious club like Real madrid.
The Madrid club are specifically looking for someone who will attract their transfer targets such as Eden Hazard and Kevin De Bruyn.
Santiago Solari has been named as the caretaker at this stage and he is quoted to be excited about the opportunity
"I am very excited and very satisfied" Solari said " Coaching Madrid is a great opportunity. This is a squad full of champions and warriors"
